Sorry, Ubuntu version was 8.04, using default Gnome. Yes, smbclient
itself worked, else I'd have filed this on either smbclient or samba...

I'll be unable to provide much more assistance than that though as I've
moved away from Ubuntu.

It would allow me to connect to other workgroups by default, but it
failed to see anything when I changed the workgroup in smb.conf. There's
not much more I can really tell you about it, changing workgroup back
was the workaround, but therein lies the issue... WORKGROUP is VERY
insecure. Everyone knows to try to look for that first to hack someone.
