Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
Sorry, I'm not computer literate enough to give you detailed info. Tried
downloading Hardy Heron (prompted by the upgrade manager), something to do with
network manager went awry. Left computer to itself for hours, no joy. Key board
wouldn't respond but mouse-pad unaffected. I think download was almost
complete, got as far as something to do with language support. Eventually
closed download window and asked computer to restart. Lots of messages about a
daemons and killing things appeared, but this took about 20 minutes. Got as far
as "Will restart now." and didn't for a further 10 mins. Pulled lots of
apologetic faces at the screen thinking I'd broken it and pressed the off
switch. Everything seems ok as I'm writing this on the same machine but I
haven't explored fully yet. Suffice to say I won't be downloading any more
upgrades till my techno-whizz pal who installed Ubuntu for me is around! Sorry
I couldn't offer you a better explanation.
Cheers guys. All your work appreciated. Stuff Windows!!!
