and edit as root the mythtvhandler.py Add the following below "play/pause" :"P", \ then edit the core.py "play/pause":"^playpause", \ save both, then re run the lirc-generator! - you might need to add these custom keys to the rest of the py scripts This forces the playpause to use only one button as a config.
