I can not confirm this issue:

MY TC1100 is running the same:
 acpid 1.0.4-5ubuntu9
 gnome-power-manager 2.22.1-1ubuntu4
 pm-utils 0.99.2-3ubuntu9
 powermanagement-interface 0.3.18
 powermgmt-base 1.29build1

When running "gconftool -a /apps/gnome-power-manager 2>&1 | tee
/tmp/gconftool.log' I also get:

 action_button_suspend = suspend
 can_suspend = true
 suppress_suspend_warning = true

I am running 2.6.24-18-generic however.

This machine does not have the -17 kernel so I was unable to determine
if this is an issue with that kernel.
