The fstab-line I used (also in my bug description) was:
//lin01/public /media/lin01-public cifs 
lfs,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,codepage=cp850,iocharset=utf8 0 0

As you can see, I do not use de uid and gid options because the above
line did actually work in gutsy (and not so in hardy), so this cannot be
related to any misconfiguration, seems logical to me.

Nonetheless, I can try the uid and gid options, as a workaround. Can you
suggest me what the actual line should look like? I connect to a public
share (as you can see from the Samba server config file), so no user
login or password is involved.
