Public bug reported:

On Kubuntu 6.06, enabling "Desktop Sharing" and connecting to it from a
WindosXP box on the local LAN is slow to the point of being unusable.
installing and running the standard vncserver package instead runs perfecly
well (with no other modifications to the setup, client, or LAN). It's a shame
the built-in solution doesn't work well and requires this additional
installation, since the functionality is supposed to be exactly the same using
any VNC server.
btw I've found this issue reported in various external forum websites, none
with a solution or any insight other than installing an alternative VNC server
to the built-in one...
