I've just tried the same PDF in "preview" on a Mac running MacOS and I can't read anything bar the "search" button which actually looks really good!

The fonts are on the whole terrible. Scrunched up and overlapping. The rendering on the screen looks good for the most part, but the printed (or rendered to PDF) version nearly always looks a bit off..
