Rafiq, I hope my suggestion to get update-grub back has helped you.
I'm closing this bug as invalid, because it's not a bug in the kernel
package itself, when update-grub is missing (but grub itself is
installed).
Please open a bug task for "Ubuntu" or another package, which might have
caused the removal of update-grub.
