Hi Mike, excuse me for the incomplete information. In both cases, I used Firefox (v2 on Kubuntu and v3 on Ubuntu), downloading from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/hardy/release/ The image file size is 720,211,968 bytes.
I just tried downloading the image using wget, and the download screeched to a halt at 94% (678,866,256 bytes).
