keeping the old kernel booted results in another problem: as soon as one installs the new modules and gladly boots into the new system, the module is still not loaded; one has to manually do the `depmod -a` again and `/etc/init.d/vboxdrv restart`, although everything should be properly installed. (uninstalling/reinstalling helps, too.)
having to uninstall/reinstall something to make it work casts a very bad light on our favorite packaging system, which should be avoided. (i usually explain to new ubuntu users coming from nonfree os that there is no uninstalling/reinstalling unless they modified the packages files -- i don't want them to fall back to their old habits) -- Kernel updates break VirtualBox support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212217 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
