Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

With Metacity I was able to resize a window vertically by Alt-dragging
near the middle of the bottom edge with the middle mouse button held
down. This kept the window width constant, which is very nice for
terminal windows and gvim, where you want to know what 80 columns look
like.

Compiz, on the other hand, always picks a corner to resize when I Alt-
drag, and it's very hard to keep the window width constant.

I consider this a wishlist issue, although some may consider it a
regression.

** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
