I appear to have the same problem I had Ubuntu 7.10 and updated to 8:0 recently. I am trying to get the various audio and video players working. I followed the instructions in http://linuxondesktop.blogspot.com/2008/04/things-to-do-on-your-new-ubuntu-804.html and the Rhythmbox is failing in the same way as described here.
