You have been subscribed to a public bug by Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand):
I downloaded an opensource program (called 'geb', version 7c5) from:
http://www.channon.net/alastair/
The exact file is:
http://www.channon.net/alastair/geb/geb_v07c5/geb_v07c5.src.tgz
I compiled it and run (as a normal user) the
./o.Linux./geb_resets
or
./o.Linux./geb_no_resets
In any case, after the window is shown, the computer freezes hard (only mouse
pointer can be moved). I can restart only by pressing the reset button. The
freezes happens everytime when I launch the program
I should not be possible for any program to crash the whole computer, so I
consider this a security vulnerability.
Other information:
I have ubuntu 7.10 installed:
'uname -a' gives:
uname -a
Linux nop-desktop 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
I use proprietary nvidia drivers.
Unfortunately, I didn't found any information about freeze into the
logs, but I still upload them, in order to show more information.
