It seems that grub cannot find the partitions that /boot/grub/menu.lst
tells it to mount before loading initramfs and the kernel...

We'll need your grub menu and your fdisk list. Try booting using a
livecd, then mount the linux (/) partition. Find the file
/boot/grub/menu.lst and attach it here. Also, in a terminal, type 'sudo
fdisk -l > fdisk.log' and attach the fdisk.log file here...
