This is the answer I got in the Beagle Bugzilla: "Comment #1 from Debajyoti Bera (beagle developer, points: 17) 2008-06-12 22:28 UTC [reply]
The current maxversion is "<em:maxVersion>3.0.*</em:maxVersion>". That should cover all firefox versions upto and including 3.0. I think its best to wait till Firefox3 is released and the set the correct maxversion accordingly. Comment #2 from Debajyoti Bera (beagle developer, points: 17) 2008-06-12 22:39 UTC [reply] http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Updating_extensions_for_Firefox_3 We have the correct maxversion. Indeed, beagle-0.3.3 had the older extension which was not even supposed to work correctly with Firefox-3. beagle-0.3.6 was released with a Firefox-3 compatible extension. Regarding Ubuntu, if they had just changed the maxversion to 3.0b5 to include Firefox-3, then expect things to break. Extension maxversions should not be just increased without consulting with upstream if the extension is at all compatible with the new version."
