Aptitude under Hardy.
Background:
I recently upgraded from 7.04 through 7.10 to 8.04 and I got the same message
from both aptitude and update manager:

Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place

Because of some frequent glitches with gksu I decided to do a fresh
install of Hardy. After getting all upgrades (security, updates,
proposed, as of 2008-06-15), for the first package I installed
(thunderbird) aptitude produced the same message again.

.............
Configuring thunderbird (2.0.0.14+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1) ...

Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
Reading packagelists... Done
...............

The installation went fine and thunderbird works fine. Since both update
manager and aptitude gives the same message I would suspect dpkg or some
other code they have in common to cause the problem.
