Public bug reported:
First of all I am confused about opening that bug since there are some
similar ones over here. But this week lots of people told us that they
can not connect their wpa secured connections with Ubuntu. They are
mostly using USB wireless cards. We manage a local Ubuntu forum here and
encounter lots of WPA complaints, so this is why i am opening this bug.
Here is a list of cards that have problem with WPA:
##################
Realtek TRL8187B
ASUS WL-167G
Realtek RTL8180L
Linksys USB Wireless
Edimax USB Dongle
US Robotics 5422
Realtek TRL8187B
Airlive Turbo-G USB Dongle
##################
I myself connected to a machine above that have RTL878b via ssh and
tried to examine the problem. We can see the wireless connections and
try to connect. At least it conntects but disconnects after
approximately 30sec to 1 min. and try again. This goes a couple of time.
I am attaching a syslog file with only related parts about wifi
connection.
There is no problem with Wep-based connections or connections which
hasn't got wpa or wep encryption.
I can say this has occured after some latest updates but i dont know
which package it is. I changed wpasupplicant package with Gutsy one,
didnt work.
And also on some other distros we see this problem, too. Like Mint and
this happend after latest updates.
I tried this with a IPW2200 card on my machine and it worked with no
problem. So I can't say that whole cards have a problem with WPA.
