Public bug reported:
No sound at all. Card detected, no errors. Recompiled alsa several times (using
different suggested versions). Not muted, hardware ok (works on" the other
OS")...

I am on an ASUS F9S laptop, using 64 bit ubuntu 8.04 (with all the
available updates up to today, 15/06/2008) i.e. kernel
2.6.24-18-generic. Sound has never worked on Ubuntu 8.04 (since the
release date, a couple of kernel versions ago)
