Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

I installed 8.04 on a PC with an SiS 740; when I boot, my 15" LCD
complains that the signal is out of range (86Hz vsync, max allowed is
75Hz) and I don't see the splash screen. The monitor is a KDS Rad-5.

According to ddcprobe, here's what the monitor supports:

timing: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hz Interlaced (8514A)
timing: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hz (VESA)
timing: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hz (VESA)

I am suspicious of the 86Hz timing chosen by usplash, is usplash
(svgalib?) improperly trying to use the 87Hz interlaced mode that the
monitor claims to support?

My usplash.conf has xres/yres=1024/768. If I hardcode the resolution to
800x600, usplash works properly.

** Affects: usplash (Ubuntu)
