Thanks for your bugreport.
If you could attach the logs from /var/log/dist-upgrade/ to this
bugreport that would help a lot. I would like to check if the upgrade
itself went smooth or if there have been problems. Maybe you can access
those logs by booting from a livecd?
If the UUID stiff is not working, that would be a bug against udev. Ther
kernel hanging against linux-source-2.6.17. But before adding tasks for
this the logs would be really good.
