This doesn't seem to be an apt problem.
Looking at the error message, the issue seems to be DNS related.
You should make sure you can access the us.archive.ubuntu.com mirror from
firefox and if not check your DNS servers or your ISP dns servers.
As it's not an apt bug, I'm marking it as invalid. Feel free to open a
new one against networkmanager if your DNS configuration is not
correctly retrieved from your ISP.
