Same here on Hardy:

/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 1482 MB in 2.00 seconds = 741.13 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 28 MB in 3.07 seconds = 9.12 MB/sec

I have a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Board and Seagate Baracuda Drive.

Tried to disable IDE in Bios, unplugging all IDE devices, but this does
not help.

Greping in dmesg i found the following line. Has this any meaning?

[ 23.641701] ata6.00: ATA-7: ST3300831AS, 3.02, max UDMA/133
[ 23.641704] ata6.00: 586072368 sectors, multi 1: LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32)
[ 23.641712] ata6.00: configured for PIO <-----
