I just benchmarked the rss-glx screensavers on my ATI X1300 card as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Screensavers. Out of 19 savers, only 3 used less than 80% CPU... Maybe rss-glx should not be installed by default, even if they're really slick. From the upstream site, it seems they are optimized for slickness without thinking to much about resource usage.
However, many of the hacks have options that can be tuned for running more lightly. Please have a look at the man pages for each of them and experiment. We can add these options to the corresponding .desktop files. -- screensavers cause high CPU usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174191 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
