nvidia-xconfig was not and is not installed. I didn't think it was supposed to be, so I checked for contention/dependencies before I took the error message's suggestion, and reported what I found.
the xorg.conf is essentially the same one used on OEL(RHEL) 4.5 and 5.1 that boot on the same system, and it works for them. nvidia-settings does launch, produces the error message, and then offers a very limited sidebar selection, cntaining only "nvidia-settings Configuration"-notheing about configuring the xorg.conf file. I also run a 32 bit Hardy with single nvidia graphics adapter, and use envyNG without any problems. -- nvidia-setting cannot identify driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
