No worries.
I think this is intended behaviour, in the sense that about:blank has always 
been the url for the blank page in Firefox. Unfortunately I don't have a FF2 to 
check the behaviour you describe (empty string as homepage)...
In the future, if you want to set any page as homepage in Firefox, go to that 
page and in the preferences click "Use current pages".
