I'm experiencing the same issue. However, I didn't have this same
problem under Gutsy 32-bit. I'm now running Hardy 64-bit, and have
noticed my ripping speeds drop from about 12-14x down to about 5x or so.
Here's the hdparm output info:
Model=TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-L632H , FwRev=D300 , SerialNo=
Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic }
RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0
BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0
(maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0
IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:383,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2
UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2
AdvancedPM=no

* signifies the current active mode
I notice that my processor rarely seems to exceed the 50% mark on either of the
two CPUs unless I'm doing something else in another application at the same
time. It's not a showstopper but, but it is unfortunate. Thanks for looking
into this,
All the best!
