Some hours after confirming this bug, my computer was slow and I have found that the process taking 94% of my CPU, seemed to be a whiptail command building the user interface for the debconf screen I did include in this bug (not even sure this is possible, I don't really know whiptail, but the big text on the command line was really like the one in the screen).
I had closed gnome-terminal for hours then.
