I was also a little bit puzzled with this. As of now I am running Ubuntu 2.6.24-19-generic kernel on D945GCLF board, and it seems that eth0 gets initialized properly roughly every second time. This rough estimate is based on a sample of maybe 6 reboots (power off). Once it gets initialized properly, there are no problems running it for days. Note that I have not tried this with Debian/testing kernel, but the same problem might exist also there?
