I am also experiencing the problem, on Hardy and using the latest version of Firefox. I'd also like to add, in addition to the above, that the location bar is blank when I start Firefox, and Ctrl + L or Alt + D brings up the "Open Web Location" dialog, instead of bringing the location bar to focus.
