Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: mythvideo
When playing back DVDs in mythvideo (via CD/DVD | Play DVD), the DVD
drive keeps spinning at (what sounds like) full speed, rather than
slowing down to 1-2x speed. I
This is using mythvideo package 0.21.0+fixes16838-0ubuntu2 on Hardy.
I have the drive speed set to the lowest value of 2 (in Media Settings |
Video Settings | General Settings).
My DVD drive is a TSSTcorpCD/DVDW SH-S182M. The IDE controller is a
nVidia Corporation MCP51 IDE (ASUS Pundit P1-AH2).
As a workaround, using hdparm -E 2 does slow down the drive.
Please let me know if any other details would help track down the
problem.
