I have an ancient orinoco gold card in a pci to cardbus bridge. When I
ran edgy RC from the live CD it did not work. It indicated "no wireless
extensions for wlan0". I unloaded the prism2_plx module and then
everything worked.
commands to unload prism2_plx to get the wireless to work:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe -r prism2_plx
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe -r orinoco_plx
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe -r orinoco
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe -r hermes
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe orinoco_plx
I thought I would have to blacklist the prism2_plx in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.
But after I did the install, everything worked without any tinkering. It even
set up the encryption key!
