Same here (blinking cursor and extremely slow boot) with Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 and Ati Radeon Mobility M6. Problem manifested after upgrading from dapper to edgy, and doesn't seem related to the kernel I use for boot (I kept old dapper kernels around as a safety net).
