Public bug reported:

I'm on a freshly updated dapper to edgy on amd 64. If you try to use the gtk
file chooser you can't access the root file system clicking on the "File
System" icon on the left of the dialog.
To reproduce:
1. open Gimp, select "File->Open...", it opens a dialog, you can see on the
left the "Places", click on "File System": it shows me only a reduced set of
the root directories.

2. Open Firefox, go on your favourite bittorrent downloads site, click
on the torrent file download link, it opens a dialog: select "open
with", then in the combo select "Other...", it opens a file chooser
dialog, you want to browse /usr, but there isn't a /usr directory at all

** Affects: kubuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Needs Info
