Description:
Documents saved as .doc (MSWord 97/2000/XP) are way bigger than expected, as
compared to similar documents saved with MS Office.
Moreover: simply opening a Word .doc, and then saving it again to another name,
will grow it by about 5 times.
Reproduced with example documents from
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Search?resultsPerPage=40&scope=domain&artifact=issuezilla+ALL&Button=Search&query=export+word
such as
- bla.doc , attached to Tracker issue 30328: grows from 15872 bytes to
112128
- Bug report test case for Word export filter.doc , attached to Tracker
issue 32859: grows from 28160 bytes to 101376
(as well as with Word documents people have emailed me, not attached here for
privacy concerns).
Attachments:
bla.doc, Bug report test case for Word export filter.doc, and those two after
opening and saving them to another name (filename contains "resaved").
