In future, please try to keep the bug description short and attach the
file rather than pasting them inline. It makes it easier to follow the
bug.

Questions:
 - what kind of atheros chip do you use? Please attach relevant messages from
/var/log/kern.log.
 - are you using hidden ssids? If yes, please enable the SSID broadcast.
wpasupplicant is known to have problems here.
 - have you read /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/README.modes.gz? Quoting from
section 4:

In order to debug connection, association and authentication problems,
we suggest starting `wpa_cli -i <interface>` in a different shell, before
starting the interface. Use the command 'level 0' first, to get all
debug messages. Then use `ifup --verbose <interface>` to get verbose debug
messages from the script starting wpasupplicant.

Please attach a log file from such a session to this bug.

 - you are using 'ap-scan=1' in your configuration. why? can you please
experiment by setting it to 2? does this improve the situation?
