This behaviour is actually the reason to use smart. smart won't upgrade
dependancies for one package if it will break another package. It will
choose the most compatible set of packages for that system. this does
mean that at times a particular system won't be using the very latest
packages in a repository. So actually aptitude/apt-get broke you system
:)
