Latest ubuntu Hardy release now always use a safe resolution usplash in
the Live-CD and all modes other than VGA has been removed. Can you
confirm if you can still reproduce this bug with safe-video mode?
Thanks for your bug report.
** Changed in: usplash (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete
** Summary changed:
- [Gutsy Tribe 5] MacBook Rev.A, Gutsy Live CD framebuffer blank with all modes
other than "VGA"
+ MacBook Rev.A, Live CD framebuffer blank with "Safe Video"
** Description changed:
- Binary package hint: usplash
-
- Is "usplash" responsible for the splash screen on the live CD?
-
I am attempting to clean install Gutsy Tribe 5 on a MacBook Pro, Rev.A,
Core Duo with a Radeon Mobility X1600. There are several problems
starting X on this machine with "gutsy-desktop-i386.iso". For clarity I
will file the bugs separately.
When any mode other than "VGA" is selected on the initial install screen
(using F4), the display never shows the splash screen. The display
immediately goes dark (not even a flickering cursor in the upper left
corner) and the console can not be accessed with Ctrl+Alt+(Fn+F1).
The same problem also occurs when attempting to boot with the "Safe
Video" option.
