Public bug reported:
When booting a computer without Xorg graphical interface (from a tty),
NetworkManager successfully setup ethernet devices with DHCP and the
network is available and working. However, it does not do the same with
wireless networks even if the good user is logged.
Steps to reproduce :
1. Prerequisites, A working wireless connexion correctly configured with
nm-applet, no wired connexion.
2. Alter Xorg /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to make sure that Xorg will fail after a
reboot, or simply remove gdm from init.d
3. Reboot your computer
4. Once you get to a tty, log yourself on.
5. Try to access the network (sudo apt-get update, ping google.ca).
Result:
Accessing the network won't work. However, it will work if you have a ethernet
cable plugged.
This might be because NetworkManager have no way to access gnome-keyring
to gain access to wireless keys without a graphical interface, I don't
know..
