Hopefully this bug can be addressed soon. I have been confronted with this several times in the past. Especially when in a group of people copying some CDs to their hard disks, and the only one having problems is the guy (me) who boasts about Linux :-( This is the sort of problems that prevents massive GNU/Linux adoption. IMHO read-only medias (CD/DVD-ROM) should be made world-readable. It's no use trying to respect FS rights when it suffices to boot with Windows or MacOS to be able to read them.
