I am gettings this error in my logs when attempting to call a method in
an applet from javascript:

I am using hardy (8.04) on a 64bit system.
I have this gjc plugin (from about:plugins):
GCJ Web Browser Plugin (using IcedTea) 1.0
File name: gcjwebplugin.so
The GCJ Web Browser Plugin (using IcedTea) executes Java applets.
I think this is still a bug and should be reopened.
