I tried to install the libraries from
http://people.ubuntu.com/~bryce/Testing/libx11/
... so far everything is working again !!! Great !
My OS is Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) x86_64. All packages are up to date.
What does it need to verify this as a fix ?
Actually I did not have trouble with SDL libraries or Java, as many here.
A particular electronic CAD software was not running anymore in my case. Now
it's working again...
