>From the bug description, I'm able to reproduce the problem as well following >these steps: - choose Places -> Connect to Server - choose Service Type: Windows share - fill in any server name - leave the share name blank
After hitting enter, a dialog pops up saying "Can't display location "smb://<address>/ - No application is registered as handling this file" If, however, I *do* fill in a share name, I'm able to connect without any problems. Whatever this problem is, it's specific to the smbbrowse backend, and does not affect the smb backend; the error message is returned before any network traffic is even generated. As a workaround, I would recommend that the customer enter a share name when trying to connect to the server, since ultimately with the SMB protocol you need to have a share name as well as a server name to be able to browse any files. If this workaround doesn't fix the problem, then I'll probably need more debugging information to diagnose further. ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => gvfs -- P3: "Connect to Server..." does not mount Windows Share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247124 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
