** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I am not writing from the error producing PC. It is an AMD64 X2, 2 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon Saphpire HD2600 Pro graphical card. Ubuntu 8.04, uname -r 2.6.24-19-rt After updating (cannot exactly tell you what), and succesfully installing, I rebooted the PC. No screen was shown and I get the following errors, when entering the safe mode: (EE) RADEONHD (0): the fglrx kernel modules is loaded. This can have obvious or subtle side effects (EE) RADEONHD (0): RandR: No valid modes. Disabled. (EE) RADEONHD (0): Failed to detect a connected monitor (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. The graphical card uses propietary drivers. I suspect that (once again), during update, may be due to a higher kernel version, the driver was disabled. How may I enable the propietary driver via command line or how may I recover the normal graphical screen mode? During the + process, both the xorg-driver-fglrx and xorg-driver-fglrx-dev were + removed. Unfortunately, the problem remains the same.
