Thank you. This is, then, a duplicate of bug 236264, and I will set it
as such. Your workaround is correct, and the only way to bypass having
the g-kr asking for a password. Please look at that bug for more
details.
Having the keyring wide open is -- right now -- a consequence of having
auto-login enabled. Indeed this is not a good thing, but so is auto-
login...
