Yes, the version of AA you have packaged with Hardy is at least a year out of date. There is a whole category of maps (they usually end in "2k8" because the AA 7.mumble release was branded "2008") that the 6.10 AA crashes after reading, and they are run on about half the servers on the net right now.
All the instructions i found on the net for building AA dpkgs referenced sources for 6.10, which may be why you guys are behind. i'm not sure how to build a dpkg, and I couldn't find anyone on the AA IRC channel who knew how (only one claimed to be using Linux), but i managed to download and build (without dpkgs) the latest AA from SVN <svn://svn.icculus.org/alienarena/trunk> and it works great (I last updated and tested a fresh build a few hours ago). The AA developers are currently recommending the SVN build for performance reasons on IRC, but I know little about any release schedules. -- [hardy] alien-arena crashed during map download https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
