That's... a strange one.
Does this only happen with remote (SSH) directories?  You mentioned adding a 
network place, but it's unclear what folder you are trying to open.
Is this just konqueror installed on Ubuntu/Gnome?
Also, can you test if you still have this issue on the Hardy release?
