Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde-guidance-powermanager
This problem seems to be new in Kubuntu Hardy, I've been using Kubuntu since Dapper on this laptop and didn't have this problem before. The symptoms are; when I boot the system (or restart X for that matter), after logging in and KDE starts guidance-power-manager; it detects that the laptop lid is closed (which obviously isn't) and performs the action associated with it - which in my case is suspend. I can work around the problem by closing the laptop lid, reopening it, and waking the laptop up. From that point on it works fine (it suspends and wakes up properly when I close the lid again and wake it up again). I can also work around the problem by changing the action to doing nothing, but I quite like the feature of suspending when the lid is closed, and it was working fine up till Gutsy. My laptop is an HP Pavillion ze4900, using intel 82852/855GM graphics. kde-guidance, kde-guidance-powermanager and guidance-backends are 0.8.0svn20080103-0ubuntu16.1. Others have been having the same problem (from the forums):- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=814945 Thanks, /Fuad ** Affects: guidance-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kubuntu Hardy: When X-Server Starts it detects that laptop lid is closed (when it's not) and performs lid close action https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248264 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
