Binary package hint: evince
Scanned documents are very hard to read in evince because, regardless of
how high their resolution, scanned images are not (or at least are very
badly?) anti-aliased and look jagged unless scaled up to 150% or 200%.
By comparison, the same documents look smooth and legible even when
viewed at 50% in xpdf or Adobe Reader.
(I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.1, evince 2.22.2-0ubuntu1)
