I can't reproduce this. The steps I'm taking (to compile the Virtualbox kernel module) are:
1) sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-source #install the virtualbox kernel module source 2) Extract /usr/src/virtualbox-ose.tar.bz2 to some writable location (in this case, ~/Desktop) 3) cd ~/Desktop/modules/virtualbox-ose 4) make In this case, the kernel module compiles without error.
