Public bug reported:
The version of Mondo shipped in Ubuntu 8.04 (2.24-2) does not deal with
the UUIDs used in the fstab and GRUB instead of devices.
When backing up a system, everything is fine. However, when trying to
restore from the generated ISOs, the system fails at the end because it
cannot install the boot loader and cannot mount the file systems.
The reason is that the new file systems created by the restoration
process have different UUIDs from the ones in the backed up /etc/fstab
and /boot/grub/menu.lst
Mondo 2.2.5 seems to fix these problems. As seen in the News from this
new version:
"Ubuntu 7.10 has been particularly tested and should really work better
now, including UUID fstab. "
Current Mondo archives are unusable in the current state. So maybe it
would be worth updating the packages in Hardy...
